    About Our Institute


    Institute of Strategic Studies (ISS) was founded to provide graduate education in the fields of security and strategy within the Turkish War Colleges campus in 2003.

    Atatürk Institute of Strategic Studies (AISS) was established under the organization of Turkish National Defence University (TNDU) on 14 November 2016 to conduct graduate education and research.

    The name of Our Institute was changed to Atatürk Strategic Studies and Graduate Institute by the Presidential Decree numbered 5309 and dated 17 March 2022. This Presidential Decree merged the following three institutes, which currently provide graduate programs under the TNDU: Atatürk Institute of Strategic Studies, Barbaros Naval Science and Engineering Institute, Hezarfen Aeronautics and Space Technologies Institute.


     

    Our Mission

    Our mission is


     • - to plan, execute, and control Life Sciences and Social Science graduate programs, certificate programs, and courses, primarily in the fields required by the Ministry of National Defence and Turkish Armed Forces,


     • - to provide academic consultancy services,


     • - to develop research and development activities related to national defence and security in the fields of Life Sciences and Social Sciences and to support the research projects conducted by the public institutions and organizations in these fields,


     • - to organize international scientific activities and to publish academic papers and books which will meet the needs and requirements of the national defence on the strategic level, and


     • - to cooperate with scientific or professional institutions and organizations in Türkiye and aboard.


     

    Our Vision

    Our vision is to be an Institute aiming to educate qualified personnel of global scale and quality who meet the national needs and to produce knowledge which will be a resource for its fields of education within the framework of civil-military cooperation under the requirements of the era.
